How we work

Property sites are easy to dress up. These are the rules this one is built on, and each is something you can check on the page rather than take on trust.

• Our own listings, not a market index — The medians, price ranges and price per square foot we publish for a community are calculated from the properties listed here, and the pages say so. We do not publish emirate-wide averages we cannot show you the workings for.
• Photographs say what they are — A community photograph standing in for a home is labelled as one — on the card and again on the listing page, which names the community it shows. We would rather tell you a picture is of the neighbourhood than let you assume it is the property.
• Guides carry their sources and their dates — Every guide in the guide library lists the sources behind it, and the figures we call out are shown with the date they were checked and what to confirm them against. When we revise a guide, we move its date with it.
• The Arabic edition is a real edition — Every page has an Arabic version at its own address, written rather than machine-translated at page load, so an Arabic-speaking reader gets the same detail as an English one.
• Where we are the listing agent, you see the permit — Where a property is our own mandate, the listing page shows its permit number — a property cannot be marked as ours in the database without one.
